Packing & Preparing

We have two French hair dryers, one in the bathroom upstairs, one in the downstairs bath. The rule is this... they are yours for your stay, so if one of them goes on the fritz, please replace it with a new one! You may be able to find one at the Ecomarché at the entry to the town, direction Brignoles.

All our linens are WHITE, so please bring your own face cloths for makeup removal or hair coloring… thanks for understanding.

We have US-French plug adapters.

Money Issues

We typically use our ATM card and pull money out of our account when we need it. We do NOT recommend travelers' checks. Strangely, not all places accept them. Credit cards are widely accepted here, though not everywhere. We "live" on our frequent flyer credit cards (and pay them off monthly) so that we can travel free. Even the tollbooths on most of the autoroutes accept credit cards!

Arrivals & Departures

Airports

If you are traveling to the south of France by air, you will arrive at the Nice Cote d’Azur Airport, Marseille Provence Airport or the Toulon-Hyères Airport. Nice and Marseille are about equidistant — about an hour and 20 minutes in either direction; Toulon is a much smaller regional airport and a bit closer.

Trains

Carcès is NOT on the train routes, so you will want and need a car to fully explore Provence and all it has to offer. We recommend checking the usual car rental agencies plus Europcar to see which is offering the best deal.

Train to Les Arcs/Draguignan, about 30 minutes east, to Nice, about an hour east, or to the Aix-en-Provence TGV station, about 30-45 minutes west, or to Marseille, about an hour west.
